The Benedictine Schools of Richmond are Catholic college preparatory high schools, Saint Gertrude High School and Benedictine College Preparatory, co-located on the Benedictine Abbey campus in Richmond, Virginia, which offer single-sex educational environments for young men and women. This unique coordinate program is founded on the mutual complementarity of women and men and the equal dignity of all human persons. We seek to introduce and deepen each student’s relationship with the person of Jesus Christ, to learn from Him, to be transformed by Him, and through Him to discover his or her call in life. We see education as a quest for truth, beauty, and goodness. We seek to form all students to be self-motivated learners and leaders in their vocations. We provide a common Catholic culture, steeped in Benedictine values, that promotes the education of the whole person – body, mind, and spirit. Learn More About BSoR

The best part about BCP and SGHS being on the same campus is the unity that we fulfill and how we feel truly stronger together.

Benedictine is not a product of immemorable lectures or educational activities in leadership, but rather an immersive, real-life experience through which tangible leadership skills, patriotism, and toughness originate.

I love that SGHS has helped me become my own person. I have been able to grow into myself with the values and lessons that are taught here. BCP and SGHS being on the same campus has allowed me to become closer with my guy friends and helps us recreate the bond that the two schools once had with each other.

The best part about BCP and SGHS being on the same campus is that there is more of a connection between the two schools. We get to do many more activities that combine the two schools and that help strengthen the bond with our brother school.

Saint Gertrude’s and Benedictine’s brightest years are right in front of us. The quality of the education, the Catholic and Benedictine values, the friendships that last a lifetime – all these things make these schools unique and important to the students, to their families, and really to the broader Catholic community here in Richmond.

I feel well prepared because of the rigorous academic program I'm provided with and the Benedictine values I learned that will help me better serve my community. And, the leadership opportunities at Saint Gertrude are endless and allow room for us to grow and improve as individuals.

Benedictine and Saint Gertrude have shaped Nick and Arden’s lives and enriched our family in so many ways through faith, life-long friendships, and giving back to the community. The experience with each school, and now the shared experiences across the two schools, has created opportunities for our children that we know without a doubt would not have been possible at any other high school. Now, under BSoR, there is a unique shared experience that only these two schools are able to define…while staying individually true to being a Cadet or Gator.

Saint Gertrude helped tremendously in the grounding of my spiritual development, the impetus for any success I’ve achieved. It is an awesome school for girls, providing opportunities that guarantee exemplary leadership development and unbreakable confidence within their soul. The future is even brighter with the remarriage with Benedictine on the BSOR campus; together they will make the impossible, possible and the world a better place!
